About Kyber
Kyber is an open-source SDK and platform to control remote machines, from Remote Desktop to Robots Teleoperation/Teleobservation. Kyber is a multi-stream and multi-actuator transport in extremely-low latency, over the quic protocol.
Clients use Kyber to control robots, drones, desktop, servers in the cloud or just remote rendering of interactive 3D programs. Kyber is done for Remote RealTime, where every millisecond matters.
Kyber is developed by engineers from the VLC and FFmpeg community, and we code in Rust, in C and in assembly. We have some development in Go too.
We're a quite technical team, but cool to work with.
We are based in Paris area and open to Remote Work in Europe. Full time only.
Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Design and develop real-time 3D and XR applications and core components
- Build and optimize XR experiences for visionOS and OpenXR-compliant platforms
- Implement and maintain rendering pipelines with strict performance and latency constraints
- Work with spatial tracking, world mapping, hand tracking, and device sensors
- Optimize frame rate, memory usage, and power consumption on XR devices
- Integrate 3D engines, native SDKs, and platform-specific APIs
- Debug complex issues related to rendering, synchronization, and spatial alignment
- Collaborate with designers, product teams, and systems engineers
- Participate in architectural decisions and long-term XR technical strategy
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and review code at a senior level
Required Technical Skills
- Strong background in real-time 3D mathematics (linear algebra, transforms, projections)
- Solid experience developing Augmented Reality / XR applications
- Strong knowledge of visionOS and its spatial computing paradigms
- Practical experience with OpenXR (runtime integration, extensions, cross-device abstraction)
- Deep understanding of rendering concepts (render loops, shaders, GPU/CPU synchronization)
- Experience working under real-time constraints (frame budgets, latency, motion-to-photon)
- Programming languages : C++ / Swift / Objective-C (for visionOS and Apple platforms) / C# (Unity or engine-level tooling) / Rust (for performance-critical or engine-level components, a strong plus)
- Frameworks : visionOS SDK, OpenXR, Unity, Unreal Engine, or custom in-house engines, Metal, Vulkan, or DirectX, AR frameworks (ARKit or equivalent spatial tracking systems)
